Two Dallas Girls Die Together in Texas Flooding Tragedy
Lila Bonner, 9, and Eloise Peck, 8 — best friends from Dallas — tragically lost their lives after flash floods swept through Central Texas on July 4, 2025. The girls had been attending Camp Mystic in Kerr County and were among those reported missing after the floodwaters rose.
Lila’s death was confirmed by her family on July 5, followed by Eloise’s on July 6. Eloise’s mother remembered her as a compassionate, animal-loving girl who was cherished by her family. The girls had been cabinmates at the time of the flood.
Another Dallas girl, Hadley Hanna, was still unaccounted for as of July 6. Search and rescue teams, including OKCM Search and Rescue, reported that 11 other campers and one counselor remained missing.
The community response was overwhelming, with tributes pouring in from across Texas. Reporter Kaitlyn Ross shared a heartfelt message honoring the girls, saying they would always be remembered. As of July 6, the death toll from the Texas floods had surpassed 50, and authorities feared the number could climb as search operations continued.
